About
Hello, my name is Andrew Meyerhoff and this is my blog. I’ve been a nerd ever since I was 3 and I saw my dad trying to fix things in the house. Since then I’ve always wanted to know how and why things worked. My interests have expanded a little bit since I was 3 but I still have the same enthusiasm about learning new things. Over the years I have picked up a few things and gotten a bigger view of the world (as my dad would say I’ve “put more tools in [my] tool box”). Out of all the teachers I’ve had, and I’ve had a lot, he was the best. The reason he was the best was because unlike everyone I’ve had in academia, with a few notable exceptions, he started off every “teaching session” with the two pieces of information which every student desires. He gave me context for the (sub)topic and why it was important to learn while making sure the concept was grasped. I work to bring the same clarity to my readers, employers, friends, and family when an explanation is needed.
I currently hold a B.S. degree in Informatics from Indiana University and a Certificate of Applied Computer Science from Purdue University. I am attending graduate school for an MS in Health Informatics at Indiana University as well. I have worked in a variety of settings (home businesses, an NPO, a public university, a private school, and a large multinational corporation) and I loved every minute of it. I love a good real life puzzle and I love working with very intelligent people so far I have been blessed with both. I hope this trend continues into my future.
